We reached our goal!

We’re a bit late sharing the happy news that we reached our new fundraising goal on Friday. In just four days, #TeamJosé rallied to help us raise the funds needed to install a ceiling lift which is a tremendous gift.

We also applied for a grant from Team Gleason to help with the purchase of a shower chair that will better support Jose’s head, neck, and back during showers now that it’s difficult for him to support his head when seated. We’re also hoping that it will eliminate the need to make unsafe transfers in the bathroom into his current shower bench.

This remarkable nonprofit scheduled a call with us within a week of submitting an application and we’ve since been connected with a representative at Nuprodx who has been working with us since June 2 to get all the specs they need to customize a shower chair that will work in our bathroom. Possibly something like the photo below. Fingers crossed and we’ll keep you posted!

Many have asked about creating new ways for people to help and we’re working on that, too. Having these two new tools will not only make it safer for us, but also make it safer to involve friends and family in more of our day to day activities. We promise to share more soon.
