I am truly amazed by the overwhelming support and love shown by so many friends from across the globe! We went silent on our GoFundMe fundraising to allow me to focus on Hawai‘i Public Radio’s fall membership campaign which ran from Sept. 29 to Oct. 8. The HPR fundraiser ended yesterday–and very successfully!–thanks to over 1,300 listeners who contributed to support our local public radio station.

In the meantime, friends and family continued to give to the GoFundMe campaign, and we’re delighted to report that the $25,000 goal has been met and exceeded. I’m honored by the many gifts and messages of support.
We will keep the campaign open a bit longer, knowing many of our friends are still wanting to give. Excess funds will be used to continue to support travel expenses for my ALS treatments in Dallas, for home modifications to make my living space safe, and for additional mobility and accessibility devices.
Tomorrow, we head back to Texas Neurology in Dallas where I will officially begin my participation in the Healey ALS Platform Trial. More on that next week.
Some of my Antilles High School friends are also hosting a fundraising event in Orlando on November 14, 2021. The event is open to family and friends, regardless of where you went to school. I hope to be in Orlando the week of the fundraiser to visit with my kids, grandsons, family and friends, and to attend the event, too.
Here’s the event link if you’d like to attend or purchase a tee-shirt to support the cause.
