Two awesome news items to report from last week.
First, Jen and I traveled to Denver April 10-13 to attend the Public Radio Super Regional Conference, where I was honored to receive the Public Radio Regional Organizations (PRRO) award.
Established in 1987, the PRRO Award honors leaders and unsung heroes who have:
- made significant, enduring contributions in advancing the growth of public media
- furthered the interests of regional organizations and stations
- exemplified qualities of leadership, commitment, and service to public media
I’m humbled to join a list of iconic names in public radio who have been recognized with this award. I knew at an early age that I wanted to have a career in radio, and I have been blessed and honored to have worked and continue to work in an industry that I love so much.
Then two days after arriving home, I received my custom built power wheelchair. This wheelchair will allow me more independence with more comfort.
I am grateful to my insurance company, HMSA, as well as Team Gleason for providing a supplementary grant to help pay for the elevation component of the wheelchair, and to donors of our GoFundMe campaign which help cover the portion of the expense not covered by insurance. I’m also grateful to Frank of National Mobility & Seating for his help in navigating the process of securing the wheelchair.
Most of all, I’m grateful for all of the continued messages of support and encouragement from readers like you.
