As I shared in my last update, I lost momentum and stalled out last week. I’ve been wrestling with a lot of complicated feelings and have struggled more than expected to get this done.
Unpacking, unwrapping, and having so much of José’s art and other treasured items he collected during his travels strewn across the apartment is definitely triggering my anxiety and surfacing lots of memories.
The great news is that progress has been made! Here’s a teaser of some of the newest items added to the auction site.

You can view them all here: https://www.32auctions.com/joselegacy
As a reminder, the proceeds from the online auction will be donated to the FAJARDO INTERNSHIP FUND at Hawai‘i Public Radio, in accordance with José’s final wishes.
A small portion will be directed to the nonprofit we founded to continue José’s efforts to “use his microphone” and support others still living with ALS to tell their stories, build community, and live with comfort and dignity.
