Annddd… that’s a wrap!
To everyone who bid, shared, commented, sent messages, won something, or made a direct gift to HPR in José’s memory, THANK YOU.
While there is much I wish I could have done differently that would have required more energy and brain power than I currently have on tap, I’m incredibly happy with our results.
As of today, with a few contributions still pending, we raised $4,630.68. While this is a little short of our goal, we still have some items that were not bid on in the auction, as well as a few more that never made their way into the auction site. I’m working to add all of those pieces to this page.
My plan is to invite folks interested in these items to suggest a contribution amount and continue working towards reaching our full goal of at least $5,000 to the Fajardo Student Internship Fund at Hawai‘i Public Radio before year’s end. If we raise more than that, then the next $500 will go to the new Team José nonprofit, and any funds above that will be added to the HPR gift.
For those reading this who made a winning auction bid, please know that it will likely take me the rest of this week to follow-up with each winning bidder to coordinate pick-up, delivery, and/or mailing confirmation details.
For now, I’d be remiss not to include an image of José with a microphone, and of course his smiling face after HPR completed its station realignment and rebrand on Feb. 14, 2017.
p.s. he kept that cookie. And yes, I still have it.

I’ll be sure to update everyone on the final gift to HPR when it’s made (with photos!), as well as next steps for Team José. Thanks for your continued interest and support of José’s memory and legacy.
Dear Jen. I enjoyed looking and bidding on the art. Everything was beautifully displayed. Congratulations on a well-run auction. Hope you can get some rest.
